Project Description
Alternative Learning Classroom II
The Alternative Learning Classroom II serves the needs of high school students in grades 9-12 with social/emotional disabilities, ADHD, specific learning disabilities and/or behavioral issues. The ALC II provides a highly structured, small group setting in a substantially separate classroom. Inclusion opportunities in regular academic classes are available to individual students as appropriate. All students participate in the MCAS testing as indicated on their IEPS.
The ALC II program provides students with strategies for improved impulse control, improved attendance, study skills and appropriate behavior/social skills with the goal of returning to a less restrictive educational environment. Positive reinforcement is utilized to increase self-esteem and self-awareness.
Frequent parent/teacher communication is a major component of the program and is essential to student success.
