Occupational Therapist 

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Occupational Therapist. The OTR/L provides consultation and/or direct therapy services, completes initial and tri-annual evaluations, develops and oversees implementation of IEP goals and objectives.

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. Valid license from the Board of Allied Health Professionals from the state of MA required. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts State Employees’ Retirement System (MSERS). Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings.

Special Education Teacher: Multi-disability Program

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Experience working with students with multiple disabilities and medical fragility strongly preferred. MA DESE licensure in Moderate or Severe Special Needs required.

The Teacher manages the classroom on a day-to-day basis by planning and providing instruction based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks, demonstrating effective classroom management, developing and implementing measurable Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, providing assessment and curriculum design as well as supervision of students, classroom staff and ongoing parent contact.

SLP

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Speech Language Pathologist for the 2024-2025 school year. The CCC-SLP provides consultation and/or direct therapy services, completes initial and tri-annual evaluations, develops and oversees implementation of IEP goals and objectives and utilizes effective curriculum materials and behavior management strategies.

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. CCC preferred. School-based experience strongly preferred. Valid licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist from the MA Department of Education and Valid licensure by Board of Registration for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology required. Registered Nurse (RN)

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of RN for the 2024-2025 school year. The RN is responsible for the school health services for all enrolled students and administration of all health related activities. Work includes providing nursing care as well as advisement to staff on medical issues/changes, and ongoing parent/guardian contact. Experience in a pediatric setting and/or working with children with significant special needs preferred. BSN and/or DESE licensure preferred.

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. Licensed Registered Nurse in Massachusetts required. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for either the Massachusetts State Employees’ Retirement System (MSERS) or the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS), depending upon licensure. Paraprofessional

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Paraprofessional for the 2024-2025 school year. The Paraprofessional assists teachers with classroom management on a day-to-day basis by providing instruction and assists in the input/development of and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, assessment and curriculum design, as well as supervision of students and ongoing parent contact.

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts State Employees’ Retirement System (MSERS). Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings.

Minimum of an Associate’s degree/equivalent or passing ParaPro test* score required. Ability and willingness to achieve a 7D license and complete the RBT training within required timelines also required. Experience working with students with special needs and medical needs. Positive Behavior Support and/or ABA/RBT background strongly preferred.
