Course Description:
Let’s turn the perceived mountain of the new IEP into a molehill. This 6-hour workshop provides information regarding the newly adopted IEP form in Massachusetts. The new IEP is a new form; it is not a new process. This professional development series focuses on IEP writing strategies already being used and aligns them with the new form. Some parts of the existing process fit snuggly into the new IEP form. In contrast, other new elements require either a change of language (ex – PLEP becomes PLAAFP) or a new way of thinking and writing parts of the document (ex – strengths, interests, and preferences). One highly emphasized aspect of the
revised form and process is verifying and documenting entries into the IEP. This professional development series focuses on the new form and strategies for documenting and summarizing students’ skills and areas of need.
Participants attend three 2-hour virtual sessions (six hours).  The virtual sessions include in- workshop readings, large and small group discussions, and working with the existing and new IEP forms in tandem.
Participants should be familiar with Zoom, know how to access and use G-drive forms and documents and have access to at least one existing IEP of a student.
